Every now & then you discover something totally different to the norm' a lake with real, outstanding beauty, an almost, magical & mystical feel to it, one that we are delighted to say we have control over. The waiting is nearly over, this is where the real work starts.
Work commences next week (15/08/09), there's a fair bit of groundwork to do including peg re-structuring, pathways, managed to secure good access for a car-park on the west side of the lake.
A few photo's of said lake. Directions, costings and a little more about the stock will be placed up when the venue is ready, these can be found on www.slfishery.co.uk
Looking from The Point Swim I t's overgrown a little!! There was a peg over there somewhere!! Looking down from the SW end. It's maturing very nicely!! Looking towards the top end.
He's ugly, but the fish makes up for it!! One of the originals caught a couple of months ago, most of the fish are very dark on top due to the clear water, we estimate around 25-30 originals are left in there!!
Lake Plan
The lake is now open to anglers, 9 swims for a max of 8 anglers, we have made the swims so that you do not interfere with anyone else's water, if you are, may we suggest your taking the urine!! You must book on in advance to fish, to do this call either, Rob on 07595910003 or Cal on 07784482993.
Costs are £5/day or £10/24hrs.
The stock? We estimate there are around 30 or so Carp left in the lake with a further 20 Leney/Sutton strain from VS Fisheries due early winter this year and a further 30 next winter. This does make the lake a bit of a challenge, long may it continue this way as we will never make it a runs water, we simply want an out and out big fish challenging water that Joe public has access to, of the 30 or so Carp that are left in there, most of them are absolutely stunning, very dark on top, proper lookers!! It was only today (09/09/09) that a distinctive fish was spotted close to one of the swims, suprisingly light on top with a greenish hue, how big? Estimates are looking at the 36-38lb bracket, which ain't bad for a Northern water. Other fish? Take a nosey at the pictures below
Some of the existing stock.
As the fishery produces fish over the coming months we will add more pictures when available, as you can see beautifull fish in superb surroundings.
Please note we now have a dedicated website which can be found at www.slfishery.co.uk
